China – Hotels As of 31 December 2011, Marriott had 57 properties comprising 22,831 rooms in China. The country is Marriott’s fourth-largest market behind, in order, the United States, Spain and Canada.
India – Investment Overseas investors seemed to remain confident in India's long-term prospects. Total investment inflows in 2012 have already reached an aggregate of US$8.8 billion.
US – Investment Sales As the economy continues its recovery, albeit lackluster, the commercial real estate market is definitely in play. As the volume and velocity of investment sales increases, there seems a greater interest from the high-net-worth community.
US – Hospitality Inland American Lodging Group Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Inland American Real Estate Trust Inc., acquired five hotels through three separate transactions for approximately $393.1 million. The portfolio is a total of 1,422 rooms and more than 153,000 sq. ft. of meeting and banquet space. All three hotels belong to Marriott-affiliate brands and will continue to be managed by Marriott.
US – Office Rockwood Capital LLC has acquired a vacant office campus consisting of over 500,000 sq. ft. in Silicon Valley, California for $90 million. The complex is situated on a 27-acre site, and will be renamed San Antonio Station.
US – Retail On May 9,2012 - the Union, N.J.-based Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. announced it entered a definitive agreement to buy Cost Plus Inc. , an Oakland, Calif.-based retail chain, for $22 per share or approximately $520 million in an all-cash transaction.
